Before disconnecting your session, ensure that you don't have any files open from the public cloud files folder. Open files can hold open the connection and prevent the session from being terminated.
To disconnect your session from The Financial Edge NXT in the public cloud environment:
- In the FE NXT web view, click the Database icon > Database Options.
- In the Database Options page, the Session Information tile lists any servers your account is actively connected to.
- If a Citrix session(s) appears, click Terminate Session.
Note: The process to terminate the sessions may take a minute and the page will refresh when it completes. Each row under Session Information will show "None found" once the session is fully terminated. If after terminating the session, anything other than "None found" shows for any row, click Terminate Session again.
- Attempt to open the database view again.
To disconnect your session from The Raiser's Edge NXT in the public cloud environment:
- In the RE NXT web view, click the Databases icon > Database options.
- This will load to the Sessions tab, which lists any servers your account is actively connected to.
- If a Citrix session(s) appears, click Terminate my sessions.
Note: The process to terminate the sessions may take a minute and the page will refresh when it completes.
- Attempt to open the database view again.

How to manually log off a frozen or unresponsive session in Blackbaud Hosting Services
After being abruptly disconnected from a Hosted Applications users may encounter an unresponsive, hung, or stuck application when attempting to log back in. Before using Task Manager (Windows PC) to end Citrix and related processes or rebooting your machine, follow the steps below to close the session and have the ability to get back into the application immediately.
Symptoms of this issue include:
- black/blue screen when launching a Hosted Application
- the "starting" window of Citrix will hang then disappear
- the Hosted Application login screen is blank, users cannot input credentials
- The program or application freezes
- The program or application abruptly closes immediately after it starts

To manually disconnect your Blackbaud Hosting Services (Citrix) account follow the instructions for your operating system below:
On Windows machines: For Citrix Receiver version 4.2 and higher:
- Locate the Citrix icon in your system tray (found near the date and time on your display]
- If you do not see the Citrix Receiver in your Notification Area (System Tray) you can enable it or launch the Citrix Control Center manually.
- Right-click the icon and select Connection Center
- Single click to highlight the application server name next to the folder icon under the Active heading
- Click the Log Off button
- Follow the prompts to force log off the session
- Close the Citrix Connection Center
- Launch the Hosted Application again
On Mac machines:
- Open Activity Monitor from the Utilities folder. The Utilities folder may be access via Launchpad, searching by name in Finder, or from the Finder menu bar, Go > Utilities > Activity Monitor
- Highlight the Citrix application icon
- Click the Quit Process button (red or gray stop sign)

Switch to another application, such as Finder, then from the Apple logo icon, select Force Quit and select the Citrix application.
